Mohanpur Upazila (rajshahi district) with an area of 162.65 sq km, is bounded by manda and tanore upazilas on the north, paba and durgapur (Rajshahi) upazilas on the south, bagmara upazila on the east, Tanore upazila on the west. Main rivers are Shiba and Baranai.

Mohanpur (Town) consists of seven mouzas. The area of the town is 9.52 sq km. The town has a population of 9387; male 50.83% and female 49.17%; population density per sq km is 985. Literacy rate among the town people is 34%.

Administration Mohanpur thana, now an upazila, was established in 1917. It consists of six union parishads, 167 mouzas and 154 villages.

Archaeological heritage and relics Bishalpur Temple.

Historical events During the War of Liberation in 1971 the Razakars established camp at the madrasa of village Sankoa and tortured the innocent people of this area. The freedom fighters attacked the camp in November in which six Razakars were captured and killed.
